The Western saddle riggin is where the latigo attaches to the saddle. This can be a metal plate, O-ring, D-ring, a reinforced hole in the leather skirting, or in some newer saddles it is an adjustable sliding metal plate.
Today Western saddles are commonly built in FULL, 7/8 riggin, or 3/4 riggin. Rarely do we see a Center Fire rigged saddle now days. In the next post we discuss cinch width and how it can correct saddle fit and comfort for the horse. ~Leslie
